Resilience

Below is a very simplified and general explanation of resilience. You are welcome to contact us to discuss your experience and think about what we can do to help.

After natural disasters, or other traumatic events, some people will be traumatised while others seem to bounce back. Research evidence tells us that the difference here is resilience. If we are resilient, we can manage unimaginable things well. Hopefully you won’t have to deal with any natural disasters, but we will all experience change in our lives and this can be stressful. If we have built resilience in ourselves, change is much easier to manage. We are often required to “bend but not break”, to “weather the storm”, to “keep our head”, to “show a good example” but this can be easier said than done.
